Vidur Lutchminarain joined Games Global through the Graduate Programme and has recently been appointed as a developer in Game Technology Portal. We chatted with Vidur to find out about his Games Global journey to date and take a closer look at how the programme has propelled him forwards in his career.
What did you study and what did you enjoy?
My journey at Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information technology with a focus on system development was marked by a profound appreciation for the practical aspect of programming. The hands-on experience of writing code, solving real-world problems, and witnessing the tangible results of my work ignited a genuine passion. The iterative nature of programming, coupled with the thrill of creative problem-solving, resonated with my intrinsic desire for continuous learning. Collaborating with peers on projects not only enhanced my technical skills but also fostered effective communication and teamwork. This immersive experience has not only shaped my love for programming but has also laid a robust foundation for my future pursuits in information technology and system development.
What value did the graduate programme add to your career and personal journey?
The graduate programme not only provided me with the chance to apply everything I learned in university to contribute to a tangible product, but also enabled me to significantly expand my skillset. As I tackled progressively more complex problems that demanded out-of-the-box solutions, I experienced substantial professional growth. Additionally, the programme strategically placed me in a team that recognised my potential and dedicated their time and effort to assist me in becoming a more seasoned developer.
What are you enjoying in your new role?
I find immense pleasure in the tasks assigned to me, as each one presents a new adventure in problem-solving. Witnessing my work transition to production is truly gratifying. Above all, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute by assisting new starters and graduates in my department, making them feel welcome and helping them become more acquainted with our product and code base.
